Thanks Chris for your response. I did ask for input last year and made some changes based on that. This year's coin was taken from two different artists that had designed the artwork for the Colorado State Quarter. I was not going to edit their artwork too much to fit a geocaching coin, therefore didn't vet the design here in the public. With some input from board members, I did make a few changes from the original artwork. The man on the back was panning for gold. It was changed to reflect the geocaching theme a bit more and I appreciated the input and the ability to make the change without compromising the artist original design too much.
I did show it to a few board members and get input. I also knew they where doing the GCCO coin and waited until the sale of most of those coins were complete before releasing my design. I didn't want to get in their way.
I have stepped up and made the last 2 coins with my own money, no other funding. Last year, I made a number of coins available to the GCCO for resale so they could make some money on the coins. I intended to do the same things this year. After speaking to someone at the GCCO they are going to pass. I will still make these available at events I attend as well as to event hosts.
If others would like to do a coin next year by all means do so. I work directly with the mint and would appreciate the chance to quote on any local business.
Thanks for all your orders.
Mike
