    Ethics question

As some of you know who we met at the BBQ last weekend, we are a travelling family.  My question involves our mentioning memberships in the different organizations.  We just started caching back in May while in Temple, TX and joined 'Central Texas Geocachers'.  We are now located in Denver and will be here until around the middle of September and, therefore, have joined 'Geocaching Colorado'.  We see joining the local organizations of wherever we are as a way to meet other cachers as well as make some friends along the way.  My question boils down to this, since we are still technically members of 'Central Texas Geocachers' and we are now members of 'Geocaching Colorado', should we put on our profile pages, sig lines, etc. our memberships in both?  Or, should we just list the one we are local to now?  Not too bad now with two, but in a year or two, could be 6 or more.  Let me know what y'all think.

List 'em and be proud of every one that you join!

If you are meeting people and having a good time then it will help serve as a reminder for you and will also let other cachers have a peek at other organizations.

Also, be sure to share with the other caching orgs what you have learned from the previous orgs and so on. Like, "Hey! At GCCO the did         . "

Great question!  I can see four different POVs (point of view) on the subject.
    1.  It's up to you.
    2.  Yes, show them all.
    3.  No, only show your current one.
    4.  Show none.

Ultimately, I think #1 is the way to go.  This is a game (although it's turning into a lifestyle) and we're all in it to have a good time.  If linking to the different ORGs you're a part of is what you want to do - go for it!

Putting them all on a sig line might be a bit much after a few orgs.  Plus many sig line fields have limited space so you won't be able to.

    Re: Ethics question

It is generally accepted to put a logo for your local geocaching group on your cache page, but when your page starts looking more like a billboard then a cache description you're likely to run into problems with Groundspeak. You're probably safe with only one on a cache page, but put the rest in your profile if you feel you need to.

Home is where you hang your hat.  It's ok to "anchor" to the home org, but I'd say also ok to play with the org currently hosting you.  However, no matter how long I live in Denver metro, the Cowboys will always be God's team.

That's almost a statement of war stated towards someone who was born and raised in the shadow of Lambeau Field in Green Bay....lol.  Well, 90 miles away is in the shadow, right?  GO PACKERS....

That said, we started geocaching AFTER we left 'home' and started our travelling lifestyle.  Therefore,we really don't yet have a home org.  Heck, according to the IRS, we don't even have a home.  Guess all these luxury copororate apartments my employer provides for us don't qualify as a home.  The local org of wherever we happen to hang our hat for the current time is effectively our home org for the time we are there.  Have made alot of friends in alot of places this way.  One of the great things about geocaching in general and geocachers specifically.  After all, we're all 'in this thing together', right?

Thanks all for your great input.  I understand that as it stands right now, we can 'do as we wish', but that doesn't mean we should ignore the thoughts and input of others as well as seek the same.
